August Construction Site

by anna on September 1, 2010

When you dig, you never know what you’re going to find! In the case of Libbey Bowl, we found debris from 60 years ago, so we’re finally throwing it away.  After digging deeper into the ground, we finally found our water. (see picture)

Libbey Bowl is finally getting a drain system bigger than the size of a piece of paper. Shortly after taking out the dressing room, we found six inches of standing water underneath the building.  No wonder the dressing room floor was always soggy and had to constantly be replaced!  Next week an underground storm drain will be laid in and Libbey Bowl will finally get an appropriate drain system.

Also scheduled next week is the laying of electric conduit to provide lighting around the Bowl and lawn area.  We are also laying out cable ducts which will enable future Bowl users to pull cords from the stage to the sound and light area efficiently.  We look forward to a new Bowl where the audience won’t have to walk over duct taped cable cords!

See above for pictures from the August construction site.  Thanks Fred!
